The Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center, dba “A Friend’s House”, is a local non-profit that provides forensic interviews for children to assist in the investigation and prosecution of crimes against children
.

We are always looking for interns or part-time individuals interested in working in the field of child advocacy or child abuse investigations. Intensive training is provided, and we are willing to work around class schedules.

We currently do not have any postions.


Volunteers are always in high demand!

Michelle Edwards Executive Director

Mrs. Edwards is the founder of Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center.  Mrs. Edwards opened the doors to the center in 2000.  Mrs. Edwards has strived to make children in Forsyth County safe and protected from further abuse. Mrs. Edwards has a background in Sales and Marketing and over the last ten years has provided services for new concept design in both programming as well as been a part of numerous task forces to benefit the children throughout the surrounding Counties.

Tennile Chapman

Mrs. Chapman received her certification in Victim Advocacy in 2004, her diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2006, and will receive her Associates Degree in Accounting in 2011. Mrs. Chapman has been with the CAC since 2005.  Mrs. Chapman is a member of several committees preventing further abuse of children.  Mrs. Chapman oversees the scheduling of  forensic  interviews and the case tracking process as well as manages the enter's finances.  

   
Dawn LaBell
Child Advocate

Ms. LaBell has received two Bachelor's Degrees, Psychology and Sociology with a Concentration in Criminal Justice. Ranging from working with troubled youth in schools to protective services to forensic interviews, Ms. LaBell has focused on safety, well being and health of children throughout her career. In addition to educational and career experiences Ms. LaBell has been certified as a Forensic Interviewer by Cornerhouse. Ms. LaBell has been certified has a Family Team Facilitator, and also has given several presentations on Child Abuse and Neglect to Daycares, Schools and Juvenile Court. Ms. LaBell chairs the Forsyth County Prevent Child Abuse Committee.
