In 2009 " A Friend's House" interviewed 169 children.
Forensic Interviews when there is an allegation of abuse. Referrals from Law Enforcement and the District Attorney’s office resulted in “A Friend’s House” completing 169 forensic interviews in 2009.  
“A Friend’s House” conducts interviews by staff that are trained and in Forensic interviews.  Interviewers are conducted in a room that is comfortable for the child.  “A Friend’s House is independent agency that is a neutral site for the children to come to discuss the abuse that they have experienced or have witnessed.  Our interviewers are neutral and talk with the children one on one during this interview it is recorded and there is a recording of the interview so that the child will not have to repeat his or her scenario repeatedly.  “A Friend’s House” provides a stress free environment for the child.

Child Abuse Statistics

 In 2007, there were 1216 reports of child abuse or neglect made to the Forsyth County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS).  (Total state of Georgia: 92185). 

 Forsyth County investigated 624 cases (GA: 50151), and substantiated 201 cases of child abuse or neglect (GA: 21780). 

 

Substantiated cases are those in which, based on a preponderance of evidence collected, the allegation of mistreatment, as defined by state law and CPS procedure requirements, is true.
